Potara earrings are the fusion earrings worn by the Supreme Kais in Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super. Two characters each wear one on opposite ears — one on the left, one on the right — and they fuse into a single warrior. It is how Vegito exists. It is also why you almost never see a character wearing two.
That single detail is the thing most people get wrong when they buy a pair, and it is the reason we sell ours as singles.
The quick answer
- What they are: the earrings of the Supreme Kai, capable of fusing two beings into one.
- How they are worn: one earring, one ear. Opposite ears for the fusion to work.
- Which ear: whichever one you want. In the series the pairing is what matters, not the side.
- Do you need two? No. A single is screen-accurate. Grab two if you want both ears.
- What ours are made of: 316L surgical stainless steel — hypoallergenic, does not rust, does not turn your ear green.
- Officially licensed: yes. Every piece we make is licensed. No bootlegs, ever.
Which character wears which color
Potara come in a spread of colors across the series, and the color is the character. Here is what we currently stock.
Goku Black — green
The most requested Potara we make, and it is not close. Goku Black wears a single green Potara on one ear through the entire Future Trunks arc, and that lone earring became one of the most recognizable silhouettes in Dragon Ball Super. If you only ever own one Potara, this is the one.

Shin — yellow
The Supreme Kai himself. Shin's yellow Potara are the classic pair the earrings are actually named for, and the ones that started the whole fusion mechanic in the first place. Cleaner and more understated than the Goku Black green — this is the one people wear when they want the reference without the announcement.

Roh — red
Deep red on gold. The rarest look of the set and easily the boldest. If you already own the green and want something nobody else at the con is wearing, it is this one.

Gohan — blue
From the Dragon Ball Z side of the shelf. Blue Potara, tied to Gohan's arc on the Sacred World of the Kai. A different piece from the Super lineup and worth having if DBZ is the era you grew up on.

Why we sell them as singles
Because that is how they are worn on screen. Goku Black wears one. Zamasu wears one. The fusion only happens when two different people each wear one, which is the entire point of the item.
Selling a "pair" of the same color is a merch convention, not a Dragon Ball one. If you want both ears filled, order two singles — and honestly, two different colors is the sharper look and a deeper cut than matching.
What they are actually made of
316L surgical stainless steel. That is the same grade used for body jewelry and surgical implants, and it matters for an earring more than for almost anything else you own:
- Hypoallergenic — nickel-safe for the vast majority of people with sensitive ears.
- Will not rust or tarnish — shower in it, sweat in it, forget about it.
- Holds its finish — the plating is not a coat of paint that flakes off in a month.
Every MISTERVERSE piece carries a lifetime warranty. If it fails, we replace it. That is not a limited-time thing, it is just how we sell.
Officially licensed, and why that matters here
Dragon Ball is one of the most bootlegged properties in anime merch. Search "Potara earrings" and most of what comes back is unlicensed — cast from scans, plated with whatever was cheap, sold by a store that will not exist in six months.
Ours are officially licensed Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super products. The license means the shapes and colors are approved against the source material, the creators get paid, and you are buying from a brand that has to stand behind the piece.
Frequently asked questions
Are Potara earrings worn on one ear or both?
One ear. In the series, two characters each wear a single Potara on opposite ears in order to fuse. A single earring is the screen-accurate way to wear them.
Which ear does Goku Black wear his Potara on?
Goku Black wears his on his left ear. That said, there is no wrong side for wearing one yourself — the pairing between two people is what drives the fusion in the story, not the specific side.
Are these real Potara earrings?
They are officially licensed Dragon Ball jewelry — real, licensed products made in 316L surgical stainless steel, not costume plastic and not a bootleg cast. They will not fuse you with your friend, and we want to be upfront about that.
Do Potara earrings fuse permanently?
In Dragon Ball Z, Potara fusion between Supreme Kais is permanent. In Dragon Ball Super the rules were revised so that fusion between mortals lasts one hour. This is one of the more debated continuity points in the franchise.
Will these irritate sensitive ears?
316L surgical stainless steel is the same grade used for body and surgical jewelry, and it is what people with nickel sensitivity are usually steered toward. If you have reacted to cheap earrings before, this is the material you want.
Can I buy a matching pair?
Order two singles. We stock them individually so you can match a pair or, better, run two different characters.
